Greetings all you wonderful Soundcloud/Bandcamp people. First and foremost, thank you for just being you. This community has a natural propensity for giving off peaceful and loving vibes, and I am so grateful for that.

In lieu of my usual dive into current events (I think we can all agree, it’s something along the lines of a ‘Choose Your Own Doomsday Adventure’ anyway), I’ve decided to jump right into the good stuff. So for this one, I’m going to explore one of my favorite topics… God (and please know that I will keep this very loving, and very respectful. But if you aren’t interested, I understand entirely). :)

I’ve been called a spiritual shopper because I don’t adhere to any one religious organization. Instead, my God is an ever evolving, ever expanding concept. I discover truths about God in quantum physics as well as religious studies. I see God in both art and science. I see God’s fingerprint in the perfection of a leaf, and the purity of a baby; and just about any other space where my mind goes quiet and my heart opens up. For me, God is the great mystery to discover; and it is meant to be a very personal journey.

So how do I currently imagine God?

‘He’ (I’ll be following appropriate pronoun usage) is a kind Father who loves all his children equally. He doesn’t choose favorites, because he admires and respects the path we have each chosen. He knows we are all perfect beings (on a path of self discovery), because… well… he’s perfect (and on a path of self discovery). He also feels empathy for us, and shares in our sadness and pain when we hurt each other. But he loves us enough to know he can’t interfere with the big picture, or he will limit our opportunity to learn.

‘She’ is also a kind and loving Mother, who has entrusted us with a precious gift…. the gift of this beautiful planet. Contrary to our current behavior, the Earth is not our plaything, put here for us to consume. We are intended to be its caretakers (a responsibility that arises when consciousness is combined with empathy). She knows we have it within us to serve this purpose. But she also knows it’s ok if we fail, because the system is self-cleaning, and life will rise again and again… if not on this planet, then another.

‘It’ is also a vast and mysterious Universe, where life seems to be an almost aggressive energy, rather than a rarity. The building blocks of life are scattered everywhere, and Ubers and Lyfts in the form of meteors help spread all those building blocks around. Life appears to be a predominant goal of the Universe, rather than a fluke. And that is awe inspiring.

‘They’ are also the smallest of objects that serve the biggest of purposes. They are the atoms that make up you and me, and all the things around us. They behave differently when observed; and that denotes intelligence. And they act as if they are intimately tied to us; like they know they are supposed to take turns occupying matter in our bodies, so our adventures can continue; the microcosm supporting the macrocosm.

‘We’ are also amazingly diverse in our roles as ‘collective consciousness’, in order to experience the entire range of what it means to be alive. We have it within us to explore the lightest and darkest of corners. And when those boundaries are pushed to the extremes, we all learn a little more about ourselves; and more about this precious gift.

And finally, ‘you’ are an independent fragment of this greater Whole. The scope of the entire human experience is available to you. Some choices can be beneficial; other’s will certainly lead to pain. But all will provide learning experiences. And when you learn, the Whole grows as well. You are all God in my eyes (each fulfilling a role in ‘the great discovery’), and I am honored to share this adventure with you.
