‘March’s’ first incarnation was originally called ‘March of the Millipedes’ because I really dug the drums that sounded like the pitter-patter of marching insects (starting at 1:43) and decided to build a song around that. ‘Millipedes’ was never finished, and sat untouched on my hard drive for nearly a decade with a weird drum-kit sound glitch I didn’t understand at the time.

As I began reinventing this antiquated track a few weeks back, I started experimenting with clock sounds, and the name change became rather obvious to me; as did the subject matter. The re-envisioning is now almost unrecognizable from the original.

This song is now the story of a single human life; all too brief. I’ve tried to capture the joy and mystery of awakening into this world, the frantic build we all call adulthood, and the sad realization that it’s over far too quickly. Did we find our own truths? Did we embrace life, experience love and enjoy this gift we were given? That is for each of us to decide in our own time.

I hope you enjoy my latest sound experiment, ‘March of the Milliseconds’.
